This item is a rare "Carto-Color" double backed fanning deck produced for Mayett Magic Shop in Paris, France, circa 1950. Deck is complete with original box in extremely nice condition for 70 years young. As experienced collectors know, having the original box with a toy or deck of cards in excellent condition enhances the value. These were manufactured during a time when not a lot of attention was given to the quality of the boxes. Most of the time the boxes were produced from a cheaper cardboard and deteriorated rapidly. One of these decks WITHOUT the box sold on 11-27-20 on eBay for over $500. You can do an advanced eBay search for completed auctions to verify this. Use any type hat. A plastic top hat is supplied. Hat is shown to be empty as other hand holds a glass of liquid. Glass is covered with a cloth and placed atop the crown of hat as in 2nd photo, except the glass would be covered. It is
pushed down as though the glass is penetrating the hat...the cloth sides will drop over hat 'till it is flat against the top (of hat)
Remove cloth, show it empty and turn hat upside down as you reach inside and take out the glass, leaving hat empty.
The liquid is real as audience see liquid move around as glass is handled. I used red food coloring for the pictures. Liquid may be removed and glass cleaned. The hat is something I've had lying around for years waiting for a time when I could use it. A real top hat may be used should you have one. Instead of causing the glass to penetrate the hat, you could shake the cloth while being held and glass is gone....only to be found back in hat. Suitable for presentation in your living room.
