Al Cohen's Improved Haunted House
Effect: Originally sold around 1960, this outstanding trick has been sold and performed around the world. Since that time, the routine and handling ahs been refined. All weak points have been totally eliminated. Author believes that you will find this trick to be one of the finest close-up effects you can perform.
The performer tells a story of a man who best his friends that he could spend a night in a huanted house and bring back proof that the house was haunted. To demonstrate this, the performer reoves five alphabet cards from a Lexicon deck and placed them on the table to spell H-O-U-S-E. At midnight (so the story goes) the man heard strange noises so he searched the house from top to bottom...turning the place upside down. To demonstrate this, the five cards are gathered face-up. Dealt one up...one down, etc., in a pile. The entire packet is then turned over. THe man traced the strange sounds to the closet in the attic. When he opened the door, he found a GHOST...the cards are laid out on the table and instead of spelling HOUSE...the cards now spell G-H-O-S-T. Gathering up the GHOST, he decided to take it to his friends and show them he was right about the house being haunted. When he attempted to show his friends the GHOST he had captured (the deck is spread face-up across the table and the firve face down cards are removed), he got the shock of his life. In fact, instead of spelling GHOST, the five cards now spell SHOCK. The ghost had vanished as ghosts always do.
This routine comes from the estate of a home magician. It will also include another envelope with the home magician's version of the cards.

Professional grade, blocks are almost 3" cubes. An empty wooden cover a rod attached to base and the 3 A,B,C blocks, all freely shown. The blocks are placed on the rod and Cover is placed over them. When cover is lifted, one of the blocks is gone and found in a previously shown empty hat (or any container). The effect is repeated and is again found in the empty hat, even though it was placed between the 2 other blocks. No fumbling, nothing difficult or tricky moves, Cover may be shown empty anytime, and may be done surrounded. Attractive and baffling. Brand New.
